Dog Diversity Professional Dog Grooming Training School offers one-on-one* expert dog grooming training with qualified, professional dog grooming instructors.
This course has been developed to give students the ‘basics’ in professional dog grooming. This salon-based, hands-on course, is ideal for students who wish to enter the dog grooming world.
At the completion of the course, students will have a basic understanding of the following topics:
- Canine anatomy
- How to successfully handle dogs
- Canine stress: what to watch out for; sensitive grooming areas
- Set-up equipment
- Maintenance of equipment
- Preparation procedures – pre-bathing
- Body-, face-, tail-, feet- and ear-clipping

- Ear-plucking
- Breed identification and style clips
- Grooming out and de-matting techniques
- Clipping and scissoring techniques
- Bathing and drying techniques
- Customer service – understanding the clients’ needs

- Canine first aid
- OH&S issues
- Colouring and dye-ing of coats
